Our Commitment to Privacy

At Toxicity Detector, we believe in transparency and protecting your family's privacy. This privacy policy explains how we handle data within our browser extension and what practices we follow to ensure your security.

1. Data We Don't Store

We do NOT store any data in our database.
  • No browsing history is recorded or stored
  • No personal information is collected
  • No financial or banking data is ever accessed
  • No passwords or login credentials are stored

2. How the Extension Works

Toxicity Detector operates entirely locally on your browser. When content is analyzed:

  • Text is sent to the Gemini API for toxicity analysis
  • If concerning content is detected, an email notification is sent via Web3Forms
  • No data is retained after analysis is complete
  • All processing happens in real-time with no permanent storage

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

Google Gemini API

Used for analyzing text content to detect potentially harmful or toxic material. Text is sent to Gemini for analysis and results are returned instantly. No data is permanently stored by us.

Web3Forms

Used to send email notifications to parents when concerning content is detected. Only the alert message and your provided email address are used. No tracking or marketing emails are sent.

4. What We Don't Do

We do NOT send promotional emails or marketing messages
We do NOT track your browsing activity
We do NOT sell or share your data with third parties
We do NOT use cookies for tracking purposes

5. User Control

You have complete control over the extension:

  • Choose which websites to exclude from monitoring
  • Adjust sensitivity levels for content detection
  • Disable or uninstall the extension at any time
  • Configure when and how notifications are sent

6. Children's Privacy

This extension is designed to help parents protect their children online. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The extension operates locally and only sends data when potentially concerning content is detected, purely for the purpose of parental notification.

7. Security

Your master password is stored locally using browser storage encryption. We recommend using a strong, unique password that only you know. The extension uses HTTPS for all API communications to ensure data security during transmission.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
